HISTORIC CONSECRATION SERVICE PLANNED
AS TWO WOMEN ASCEND TO HOUSE OF BISHOPS

BISHOP-ELECTS JACQUELYN HOLLAND &
TONYIA M. RAWLS BECOME FIRST FEMALE BISHOPS IN
UNITY FELLOWSHIP CHURCH MOVEMENT HISTORY
Friday, March 21, 2008, Charlotte, NC…….The Spring of 2008 will ever be noted in history as monumental. In the same season where the United States of America witnesses both the first viable female and African-American candidates for the presidency, Unity Fellowship Church Movement, Inc. (UFCM) changes the face of its national leadership forever.
On Sunday, April 27, 2008, Bishop-Elect Jacquelyn Holland and Bishop-Elect Tonyia M. Rawls will join the House of Bishops of the UFCM. In their newly-expanded posts, these women will have a distinct role in the augmentation and growth of the ever-expanding denomination, which was founded in 1982 by Archbishop Carl Bean in Los Angeles, California.
Bishop-Elect Jacquelyn Holland, who founded Liberation In Truth Unity Fellowship Church in 1995, now serves as Bishop of the Third Jurisdiction (The Mid-Atlantic). She also oversees the Office of Training and Development (which addresses the theological and ecumenical development of the clergy within the denomination), the Office of Health and Wellness (develops programming and access to services that build the mental and physical health of the membership and communities they serve), and National Meetings. She is based in Newark, New Jersey.
Bishop-Elect Tonyia M. Rawls is Pastor of Unity Fellowship Church Charlotte, which she founded in January 2001. UFC Charlotte is the first church that UFCM has planted in the bible belt of the United States. She currently serves as Bishop of the Fourth Jurisdiction (The South) and Vice-President of the National Board (in this role she oversees management of the day-to-day business operations of the denomination). She also oversees the Office of Communications and The Office of Laity Relations. She is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bishop-Elects Holland and Rawls will be joining Archbishop Carl Bean – Founder of UFCM and Bishop of the First Jurisdiction (The West) and Sr. Bishop Zachary Jones – Second Jurisdiction (The North).
The Consecration Service will begin at 1pm on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the University Hilton Hotel, 8629 J.M. Keys Drive, Charlotte, NC. Media inquiries and interviews are welcome during the Annual Mid-Year Meeting, which begins on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.
